This is possible because every public key has a corresponding private key that is kept secret by the owner of the public key.

The ‘S’ at the end of HTTPS stands for ‘Secure’. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted. This communication is made within connection that is encrypted by either TLS or SSL.
If a website has an SSL certificate, the URL will start with “https://…” instead of “http://…” It would also have a lock symbol. When you click on the lock symbol in the address bar, you will see details of the certificate.
